Major League Baseball is the organization that connects two separate leagues, the American League and the National League, since 1903. In practice, the MLB is seen as 1 league and belongs to the major American sports leagues (along with the NBA, the NFL and the NHL). The current league consists of 30 teams, 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada.

Distribution of teams and competitions

Major League Baseball (MLB) quickly grew into one of the largest sports organizations in the world. Today there are 30 MLB teams competing in the World Series for the Commissioners's Trophy. The World Series takes place annually in November. The MLB is divided into 2 leagues: the American League and the National League. The American League consists of 14 teams, the National League consists of 16 teams, each subdivided into 3 divisions. The team that finishes first in its division qualifies for the play-off.
