Indoor shoes

Indoor shoes are a must if you practice an indoor sport. Shoes for the hall have been developed completely differently from their variants for the (artificial) lawn. Indoor sport requires specific characteristics. You can imagine that the surface is all-determining in this. The floor in the hall is hard, smooth and sports often take place on a relatively small surface. Indoor shoes are therefore crucial for your performance and enjoyment of the game.

What is a good indoor shoe?

Shoes for indoor sports such as volleyball, korfball, handball and basketball are characterized by certain properties. Just like the sports themselves: fast, explosive, agile. Grip is therefore very important on the field. The sole should be slightly rough. It will keep you upright and maintain ground feel, no matter how short and powerful your movements are. Due to a special pattern and profile, an indoor shoe offers the grip you need and does not leave marks. Another consequence of the hardwood or plastic surface is the impact on your joints. Stability and shock absorption are important to prevent injuries. A stable indoor shoe keeps your foot in place, but moves with you when you go sideways. There is also often extra support for the heel. The cushioning, usually made of foam, absorbs the shock when you land after a jump.

Indoor shoes different sports

Sports shoes for the hall are generally very similar. The different sports have many similarities. Strong push-offs, short sprints and often jumps are involved. Think of a block in volleyball, scoring a goal in handball and a throw in the basket / basket in korfball and basketball. In many cases, the indoor shoes meet the same conditions. You therefore also see korfball players who go for basketball shoes, because it fits perfectly into their game. Yet the specific shoes for indoor sports also have differences. This mainly has to do with your role and position in the field. A defensive libero (volleyball) has different qualities than a point guard (basketball). This can therefore be a factor in the choice of your indoor shoes.
