Puma Cell Sneakers

The Puma Cell Shoes are inspired by the trend of the 90s. Many brands already made running shoes at that time but had the idea that the technique of cushioning or a shoe was visible from the outside. Puma with the Cell Sneaker though!

Puma Cell Sneaker

The Puma Cell Shoes are inspired by the trend of the 90s. Many brands already made running shoes at that time, but almost never with visible air or with the idea that the technology of cushioning or a shoe was visible from the outside. Nike and the Air max 1 changed this. Many other brands, including Puma, also showed better and better technology in the shoes on the outside. This is now something that has become an iconic face in Dutch sneaker culture. It is impossible to imagine the Dutch & international sneaker culture without the open Air units. The Puma cell sneakers are a piece of history from that time in a new guise.

The Puma Cell Technology:

CELL technology was launched in the Puma sneakers in the 90s and was the foundation on which the cushioning know-how was built. The hexagonal shape supported strong movements and helped stabilize each step. Introduced in 98, the CELL Alien revolutionized CELL technology with its bubble heel providing cushioned comfort over long distances. This provided the cushioning in the heel that was necessary for the fanatical runner at the time.
The renewal of the Puma Cells:

This year we are bringing back the CELL Alien in its original OG form. The mesh upper allows air to circulate, while IMEVA in the midsole offers energy return. Due to the air circulation, unpleasant odors are removed from the shoe faster and the foot remains at a consistent temperature. The IMEVA technique in the pumas ensures that you have a bounce effect when walking. Part of the force you use in your steps is bounced back so that the next step costs less energy. This is the basic idea of the '90s running shoe. The rubber outsole provides instant grip and traction and the look is completed with PUMA CELL Logo on the tongue. Thanks to an improvement in production options and materials, this ensures that the shoes could last much longer from now on. The soft cushioning was less likely to wear out due to the strong rubber protection of the outsole.

What is the fit and walking comfort of a Puma Cell?

The Cell series is basically a running shoe. These have a number of fixed points that you can start from. The shoe is flexible from the middle of the sole to the tip of the shoe and rolls off nicely and easily. The heel is slightly higher than the forefoot so that you can accelerate easily and quickly and you automatically put more weight on the forefoot. This ensures that your posture is better and your lower back is relieved of pressure. The puma cell sneakers are ideal for daily use and especially suitable if you walk long distances.

The fit is perfect from the base for a somewhat thicker or wider foot. Do you have a high instep or other running shoes are often tight, then it is definitely worth trying out the Puma Cell. Do you have an insole? This can also easily be done in these pumas. Sole on sole is often done by people with thinner feet, in addition, Puma's insole can also be replaced with yours. The shoe has many and good options to change the fit because the laces extend far to the front. This ensures that many people like to walk away in these shoes. Do you have extremely narrow feet? This model is not so suitable for you, you better go for another model from our collection.

The history of the Puma Cell sneakers:

CELL is a child of the 90s. During the technology boom in the year 1990, PUMA introduced the first iteration of CELL technology for stable cushioning - with blow molded TPU configured in a pattern of hexagonal cells. In 1998 two new top models debuted: the CELL Endura and CELL Venom. The CELL Endura's hexagons were textured for extra stability, while the CELL Venom's were textured for extra cushioning. 20 years later, Puma brings back the CELL.

The visible technology from the '90s running archives returns for a fashion statement on the street. Following the visible technology trend of the 1990s, sports brand PUMA innovates to create PUMA CELL technology, one of the most durable and resilient cushioning technologies of the day. Twenty years later, we're celebrating by re-releasing a classic from the PUMA archive: the CELL Endura.
In 1998, PUMA introduced the first version of CELL Technology for stable cushioning. Stability came from blow molded polyurethane elastomer (TPU) configured in a pattern of hexagonal cells. Combinations of these cells allowed us to develop and solve cushioning for different walking needs. The CELL Endura was PUMA's top model in the CELL range. With the 90s coming full circle and the 90s back in fashion, the OG is back in its best form yet on the eve of the PUMA CELL's 20th anniversary.
With distinctive eyelets, a thick silhouette and its green CELL technology, the CELL Endura has stayed true to its OG glory, updated with new materials and new manufacturing techniques. It retains the running detailing of the original model along with the rubber toecap plus a unique eyelet for the laces. The final sneaker was referenced from the PUMA archive and reworked to create a slimmer toe shape. The original CELL Endura was hand stitched, but this version has evolved with the times and features digital stitching. A breathable mesh upper with suede overlays and PU coated leather overlays cover the upper which sits atop an EVA midsole and rubber outsole.
